AQUACULTURE FARM, SONGHAI, BUNU TAI RIVERS STATE
DW Agriculture has entered into a production agreement with the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency to take over facilities at the farm. Our initial focus is on aquaculture. We have re-commissioned and deployed the hatchery with the aim of producing five million fish fingerlings within a one-year period.
This community service operation provides fish fingerlings to thousands of fish farmers across Rivers State at subsidized prices, and will provide several millions of dollars in wealth to farmers and thousands of indirect jobs in Rivers State and neighbouring states. The fish farming operations in this farm will produce more than 1,000 tons of catfish yearly from our third year of operation.
Poultry, grass-cutters and other production facilities will be subsequently added. The strategy remains the same - to produce day old chicks, piglets etc. for out-growers as well as our nucleus farm and active processing facilities for preservation market security and value addition.
HORTICULTURE FARM, OGOJA
The availability of manure and other by-products of animal husbandry and the opportunity to utilize bi-products from horticulture means that an associated horticulture project will bring better margins to both enterprises, and thereby enhance price and quality competitiveness.
Vegetables trials were concluded in our Ogoja nucleus farm where we have produced several different local and exotic vegetables under irrigation. This project is now being extended in the rainy season. The vegetables are produced under Global GAP guidelines and we are targeting full certification by the end of the first season.
